AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that challenges conventional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the formal statement, "An unusual encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden group.
The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Transformations
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Bonus Material
Players who accomplish the adventure will acquire an unique katana in addition to several items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This update also introduces the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Crossovers
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
